Alchemy Live & Learn Program

SEPTEMBER 2024 8 Week Program Content

Live & Learn is a 8 week program designed for people of mixed age and ability to experience arts, crafts, nature, cooking, workshop activities and inter-personal connections in a fun and relaxed environment.

This program is facilitated by our experienced mentors and staff who are committed to ensuring a safe and nurturing experience.

Please note that the “Live and Learn” Program is subject to change to support other activities that may be on offer in the local community.

 

WEEKLY ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

MONDAY'S - ARTS & CRAFTS

Explore your inner creative with Alchemy arts and crafts

Activities on offer:

  • Mosaicking
  • Bird Toy Making
  • Card making
  • Drawing / sketching
  • Painting
  • Rock painting
  • Sensory craft
  • Opportunities to create items for Alchemy Social Enterprise Market Stalls
  • Other arts and craft activities or bring your own projects

Tea, coffee, Milo available to participants and mentors
BYO Lunch and enjoy lunch in the Alchemy Activities Room or under the patio

Cost: $5 per participant

 

9am to 3pm

TUESDAY'S - COOKING AND LIFE SKILLS

Arrive at the Alchemy Home Mypolonga 9:30am and catch up for a cuppa and a chat before we have fun in the kitchen!

Activities on offer:

  • Explore a variety of cooking methods
  • Learn new and different cooking methods and techniques
  • Experience different cuisines and try new foods
  • Write shopping lists and budget for groceries
  • Enjoy a lunch together, cooked by YOU! Make new friends and social connections in a safe setting

Learn invaluable life skills including cleaning and home organisation.

Recipes and recipe cards provided (folder provided for each participant)

Depart Alchemy Home at 2.30pm

BYO Lunch if you wish

Cost: $10 per participants, all ingredients provided

 

9am to 3pm

WEDNESDAY'S - PROJECTS IN THE SHED

Catch up for a cuppa and a chat then explore the array of activities on offer in the Alchemy shed with our experienced handyman Paul.

Activities on offer:

  • Pull apart station
  • Recycling projects
  • Upcycling projects
  • Gardening project in the Alchemy Garden, including growing your own vegetables
  • Building and making project – you’re welcome to bring your own project to work on
  • Bee house making
  • Bird box making
  • Paper brick making
  • Opportunities to create items for Alchemy Social Enterprise Market Stalls
  • Regular group activities and outings

Make new friends and social connections, whilst learning new skills.

BYO Lunch and enjoy lunch in the Alchemy Activities Room or under the patio.

Cost: per participant. Should you wish to undertake your own project, you will be required to supply your own materials on top of the weekly participant charge.

THURSDAY'S - COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECTS

Catch up for a cuppa and a chat then load the trailer for the day’s projects.

Activities of offer:

  • Volunteer at the Avoca Dell Caravan Park, Putt Putt rejuvenation project
  • Memorial Park, community garden plots
  • The Station, platform garden and rejuvenation project or the sensory garden
  • Volunteer gardening project at the Murray Bridge Community Centre (Beatty Tce site)
  • Alchemy’s own Vegetable Plots at the Murray Bridge Community Centre
  • Equine experience with Michelle at Mypolonga
  • Alchemy House garden projects, create a fire pit
  • Alchemy Garden projects and vegetable patch program with some potential opportunities to create a grow free cart or patch to plate harvest and cooking
  • Garden art projects
  • Trees for Life tree growing and markets

Cost: $5 per participant

For inclement weather, alternative activities may include:
Music with Paul in the Alchemy Activity Room, Boardgames and puzzles, cooking at the house or shed building projects, garden art projects

9am to 3pm

FRIDAY'S - MOVEMENT AND CONNECTION

Travel as a group to Sturt Reserve for a gentle walk along the River. If the weather is inclement, then a walk through the Market Place Mall.

  • Go to one of our local Cafes and enjoy a hot drink and a chat with friends for morning tea.
  • Lunch at GSSA Café. New weekly specials on offer.
  • After lunch return to the Alchemy Activity Room for Boardgames and Puzzles.
  • Cost: Free to attend, Morning Tea and Lunch at own cost
